Beauty For Ashes contemplates inner beauty emerging.

These works are reflections on Isaiah 61:3. In this ancient text we are told God gives beauty for ashes and strength as the mighty oaks. A repurposed white linen shirt was cut into shapes of butterflies, the symbol of change or new life, then singed by burning the edges with matches.

Although we live with the scars of our past we can reemerge as something beautiful.
